Detecting and preventing visa fraud
Unfortunately, fraudulent registrations are sometimes used to obtain IETF letters of invitation for the purposes of visa fraud and so we actively work to detect and prevent this. If we determine that a meeting registration is fraudulent, we cancel the registration and report the fraudulent registrant to the visa authorities in the country in which we expect that visa application to be made. In addition, if we determine that a stolen credit card was used as part of this fraud then we refund the card.
IETF 127 Visas and Letters of Invitation (LOI)

If you require a visa, a letter of invitation will be available during registration or at a later date from your participant dashboard.
IETF 128 Visas and Letters of Invitation (LOI)
Visa requirements for entry into Malaysia vary depending on nationality. Participants should check the official Immigration Department of Malaysia website to determine whether they require a visa and what requirements apply:

We strongly recommend checking your entry requirements and beginning the visa application process as early as possible. Visa requirements and processing times are determined by the Malaysian authorities and may change.
IETF Letter of Invitation
If you require a Letter of Invitation (LOI) to support your visa application, one will be available after you complete registration for IETF 128. You can access your LOI through your IETF participant dashboard.
An IETF LOI confirms your registration and the details of the meeting. It does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. Visa decisions are made solely by the relevant Malaysian authorities.
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card
Foreign visitors may also be required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) before entering Malaysia. The MDAC can only be submitted within three days of arrival in Malaysia.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate passport, visa, entry authorization and other documentation required to travel to Malaysia.
Please use official Malaysian government websites when applying for a visa or completing entry requirements. The Immigration Department of Malaysia advises that its official eVISA portal is the only official website for Malaysian eVISA applications.
